The students in Mrs. Gabehart's fifth grade class are proudly sporting their special 100 AR points shirts. They are 32 of the 135 students who have earned them so far this year at Schweitzer School. What is unique about these students is that they are members of the first class in which every student has earned this special honor! Room 20, we are so proud of you!

Over 200 volunteers from Disneyland, the Y, the City of Anaheim, MSD and the Schweitzer School community worked over 2 days remodeling the public park adjacent to the school.  They installed a new playground, build benches and planted 20 trees to beautify the park. Schweitzer upper graders painted decorative trash cans, wall plaques and sign posts. 

On March 1st, thanks to the outstanding efforts of our Literacy Coach, Joan Ende, we had a wonderful time celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday on Read Across America Day. We had over 90 parents, the Mayor of Anaheim and the Mayor Pro Temp, District Office employees, including our Superintendent Dr. Curtin, Community representatives from such organizations as APD and the Angels baseball team, retirees from MSD and friends and family members of our staff reading to students in all classrooms throughout the day. Our celebration of the joy of reading will continue all next week because the PTA will be sponsoring special events for our annual spring Book Fair.

Our sixth grade AVID students are very proud of their personally tied dyed Tee Shirts!  They earned their participation in this activity by successfully maintaining their organizational tools.  Since each student tied sections of his or her shirt in the pattern of his/her own choice, the design of each shirt is unique.  Now on each Friday Spirit Day designated for collegiate wear, they proudly wear their shirts to show that they are college bound!
